I'm mostly just curious to see if friending networks develop in the class (because they are used to it from Facebook), or whether no friending goes on (because I don't require it - and usually, if I don't require something, it simply does not happen). :-)

At 8:48am on August 1, 2008, Laura Gibbs said…: hi Mark, I accepted your friend request - the whole "friending" thing on social networks is kind of strange to me (I'll get friend requests from people on networks who have never dialogued with me about anything, which seems weird) - I don't know if you've noticed this yet but, LUCKILY, when you are the admin of a ning you are automatically friends with everybody on that ning, so you don't end up accidentally hurting someone's feelings by not being friends with them... :-)

I'm feeling very optimistic ... but this is one of the biggest changes I've ever made to my class, so it would be great to have some other folks to share ideas and experiences with.

The week of August 11 is when I will be putting up a LOT of technical notes, since I'll release my classes to the students August 18.
