One thing I'd like to run by each of you as a new feature is to highlight one of our members each month (or week, whatever). The honored developer/member will have a small section highlighted on the home page of the network, along with a more detailed page that highlights the work of that particular member. I was thinking of posting a transcript of an interview in which we explore different aspects of the member's work. We could come up with a flexible set of questions in which the interviewee could complete by email or online chat (or even a verbal interview). Of course, each of our responsibilities are different, so the questions would need to evolve throughout the process and be tailored to the member's work. The detail pages would be archived and accessible even after the member was featured.

If you are selected to be a featured member, you would not be obligated to be featured. This would strictly be a voluntary option and you could also provide as much or as little information about you and your work that you would be comfortable in posting.

I think this would be a great way to get to know each other more in depth and allow more collaboration between the members here at the network. If this is an idea that would be accepted among the community, then let me know here in the comments. Also, if you have nominations for our first esteemed member, please leave them as well.

/**
* In addition to a featured developer, we could also feature a specific website.
* For example, if we wanted to learn more in depth about the new HR website,
* we could feature it one month. The detail page would explain the many new
* features on the site with screenshots, examples, etc. to give us all an idea of
* both the functionality of the site as well as the architecture behind that functionality.
* I think this could be a way to "get to know" the various sites of the University and
* learn from each other's development and work.
* Let me know what you think.

I think this would be FANTASTIC, Scott!!! I'll confess that my virtual heroes at OU are the wonderful ladies who run Desire2Learn for us, and David Corbly and his team over at Bizzell Library. My ability to do my job well is very much dependent on the great work that they do, and I think it would be wonderful to give them a space here so that we could all learn more about their efforts. I also think this would be a really nice way for me to learn about aspects of web development at OU that are not part of my own professional life as an instructor. SUPER IDEA! :-)
