Please let everyone know what it is that you do. Are you a designer? a developer? a user-interface specialist? project manager... server administrator... or a 'I do it all' person?

One of my biggest problems is the differences in padding between IE6/7 and Firefox. I would appreciate if someone can show me a good resources to do layouts with CSS.

Hey Son, this is and has always been the most frustrating part of designing for the web when not using tables. It's the difference in the way IE renders the box model versus other standards compliant browsers. One way to get around this is to use the XHTML Strict Doctype. You see, IE6+ renders pages with the W3C box model in standards compliance mode. So if you use the strict doctype and force standards compliance, you'll use the same box model across most browsers.

A good resource for this is located here: http://www.456bereastreet.com/archive/200612/internet_explorer_and_...

I am one of the two learning management administrators for OU IT. I do site administration for D2L, WebCT, and iThink. I started at OU in 1984, spent 16 years in Telecom and have been doing this particular job since 2000. We don't get a lot of opportunities for feedback, so I'm excited to hear thoughts and ideas anyone has.

I am the other learning management administrator OU - IT. I am site admin for Desire2Learn, WebCT, and iThink. I started OU with teaching in mind (ba - elementary ed, m.ed - ed psych) - but I never made it to the public school. Instead IT lured me in full-time in 2001 and I've been zooming along ever since! Aside from this, I try to keep up with the techno world and recently became a Mac convert (i've still got plenty to learn)! thanks for the invite to this site, I'm anxious to see what others are doing as well as getting some fresh ideas myself!

I'm an OU alumnus from the School of Meteorology, responsible for the web development of the History of Science Online Exhibits and Books pages. I'm a Django and Python enthusiast.

I'm currently employed at the University of Maryland doing work for NOAA on the next series of geostationary weather satellites, which will have a lightning mapping instrument for the first time.

I see lots of familiar faces on here ... nice to see you all again, even if virtually!

I was appointed a little over a year ago to manage our overall Web presence to develop better content, usability, accessibility, uniformity and to utilize the OU domain to bolster overall brand value. My office is working in conjunction with OU Information technology to bring campus users tools such as the Day Communiqué CMS; a campus-wide event calendar; new media and video capabilities; better search; a new campus map; a full student, faculty and staff portal (O Zone); as well as new guidelines and policies.

Hi Melanee, this is the first I've heard about O Zone - although I know IT has talked on and off for the past ten years about some kind of portal. Can you tell us any more about that? I am really curious! :-)

I work for Library Systems at Bizzell; my duties are graphics, photography, web statistics analysis, Mac OS troubleshooting, and other odds and ends.
I am also working with a research institute (CRCM) on a variety of research projects, such as online bibliographies and surveys. I am about done with my PhD and plan to do a postdoc with CRCM next year.
Finally, for my own research, I run the only open forum in the world in translation studies as well as the fourth largest bibliography in the field.

Managing the Outreach Web site and 30+ sites for units within Outreach, I create all the graphics, design the site layouts and develop the sites while continually maintaining them all with updates as requested by the units.
