In our industry, a great resource for anyone involved in the web design/development processes is the case study. I like to read case studies because it allows me to 'get in the mind' of the developer. A good case study maps out the obstacles that developers face as they work on a web app, discusses the thought process in determining strategies to overcome those obstacles, and finally lists the methodologies taken to put the working application to use.

I'd like to see if anyone has completed a case study for their current web presence, any freelance sites developed, or sites for any other organizations/businesses. If there are any case studies out there that you wouldn't mind posting here as a downloadable document, please add them. I think they could be a great resource for all of us here. Of course, I know some information provided in a case study is not 'available' for all readers, so feel free to remove any content not fit for external audiences.

If you'd prefer to post a case study that is available for our members but protected from the general public, send it to me and I'll post it on the Wiki (which is protected from the general public).

Also, are there any thoughts regarding case studies? Is there another method that could provide similar resource?

Scott, I have never thought of doing this, but it is a great idea. I am using case studies in my class (in a structured way) for the first time this semester...

Maybe the group could think of collaborating on writing one about online environments

Hey Stacy!!! I hope your semester is off to a good start. Are you writing up the case studies yourself so that the students then work with them... or are the students themselves writing up the case studies...?

I'm trying a new experiment this semester, using a Ning for my class. It is going GREAT. Liz Ilawan is also using a Ning for her online Italian classes, and Mark Walvoord is using a Ning for the sections of the Biology course that Marielle Hoefnagels developed several years ago. At least for me, the Ning is a much much MUCH better online environment than trying to use the D2L discussion board! :-)
